Toyota Tacoma – Journey through a couple decades

Toyota Tacoma – Journey through a couple decades

Clare Hubbard

Toyota Tacoma has come a long way after first being launched in 1995. From being a compact pickup truck to a medium sized one, Tacoma has become nothing but better and better! Being launched as a successor of the Toyota pickup truck, Tacoma has become indeed very huge in itself.

The transmission available for the first generation model was 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual. Of the second generation, transmissions avatar were 4-speed automatic, 5-speed automatic, 5-speed manual and6-speed manual. For the third generation models, we had 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual. In short, it got better and advanced with every generation, as expected.

For the interior of the latest model we have a handle bar theme in addition to larger touch screen display as well as an all new instrument panel. The materials used are much more soft than the previous hard ones making the cab area much more comfortable to sit in.

As a result of the this betterment, the demand had to rise naturally. In order to meet this rapidly rising demand, the San Antonio plant was running costlier extra Saturday shifts to keep up with demand, running at 125% of projected plant capacity. As the demand is rising consistently, Toyota USA announced that they will increase production at the Tijuana plant in 2018 from about 100,000 to 160,000 Tacomas. With the production rising, it sure is to gain more market share in this particular industry.

With every passing year, the Toyota Tacoma is expected to rise, in both aspects of demand and supply. While the demand rising due to its long established popularity, the supply is being done unstoppably to meet the demand. This is how the Tacoma has come so far, after more than two decades of excellence. This is how it will go and grow, after the next and many more decades to come. And this is all because Toyota Tacoma is excellent! It will keep on growing and getting better and better.
